The re-negotiation of the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) among Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation(EGCDF) and the Delta State Government(DTSG) held from 7th to11th September 2015 at the Eko Hotel and Suites,Victoria Island, Lagos. New Nigeria Foundation (NNF) led by the Managing Director, Prof. Obafemi Ajibola facilitated the re-negotiation. It was attended by representatives of EGCDF, CNL, National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) and the Delta State Government.
The objectives of there-negotiation were to ensure that all parties have the skills and capacity to negotiate effectively; the process was structured for the best possible negotiation outcomes, and the GMoU and relationship among the parties were strengthened.NNF adopted the Mutual Gains Approach and other methods were used to achieve the objectivesincluding video session, simulation, group discussions and PowerPoint presentations. The facilitators’ record of agreement which detailed agreements reached by all parties was signed and a new date was considered for the conclusion of the negotiation of outstanding issues.
