Strengthening Partnerships: Courtesy Visit to Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems

The Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), Lagos State Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Ruth Olusanya. The delegation included the MD/CEO of NNF, a senior member of the Institution, whom the EXCO invited to join the team. During the visit, Engr. Dr. Adesina presented a Concept Note on the Development of Equipment for Rice Fortification in Lagos State, emphasizing its potential to make rice, a widely consumed staple in Lagos, more nutritious. The initiative particularly aims to benefit vulnerable groups, including women and children. Professors Obafemi Ajibola, Dele Sanni, and Dr. Fred Nwogu further explained the technical rationale, drawing on successful fortification experiences from Europe and Nigeria.The Honorable Commissioner, Ms. Abisola Ruth Olusanya, warmly appreciated the delegation’s visit and described the proposal as both timely and relevant.
