Facility for Oil Sector Transparency and Reform (FOSTER) contracted NNF to undertake a review of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights. The project sought to identify ways to mainstream the VPs into the oil and gas regulatory system through DPR’s impact assessment process and also in the awards of private security contracts. In undertaking the project, NNF analysed existing data on UNGPs and VPs vis-à-vis the political environment in order to identify opportunities and possible ways of integrating the VPs into the regulatory framework. A validation exercise through a presentation and critique of the findings was also undertaken later in August 2015. |
