Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, an affiliate of Chevron Nigeria Limited, and its partners in the Agbami oil field (Famfa Oil Limited, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited and Statoil Nigeria Limited) engaged NNF in 2012 to develop and implement a three-year monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan for its social investment projects in the health and education sectors. The projects involved provision of hybrid and conventional libraries as well as science laboratories aimed at improving quality of education at secondary school level. Also, the project provided chest clinics aimed at reducing the burden of tuberculosis and other chest related diseases.
In implementing theproject, NNF adopted participatory, resultsbasedapproaches which involved beneficiariesof the projects.
As part of the final activities for implementing the M & E plan, NNF conducted series of stakeholders’ workshops in the second quarter of 2015. The workshops provided the opportunity to inaugurate new schools into the M&E programme, receive progress reports from beneficiaries and jointly assess the performance of the projects. Strategies for dealing with challenges and improving the projects were also discussed at the workshops.
Overall, the workshops were conducted for the following projects in the quarter: Hybrid and conventional libraries’ project (19th to 20th May 2015); science laboratories’ project (2nd to 3rd June 2015) and chest clinics’ project (23rd to 24th June 2015).
