New Nigeria Foundation, a member of the NGO Pillar and Steering Committee of the Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI), was represented by Dr. Fred Nwogu, Senior Manager at the Foundation, at the 2025 Annual Plenary, which was held from 18–21 March at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Marking VPI’s 25th anniversary, the event brought together around 140 delegates from 27 countries, including representatives from companies, NGOs, civil society, and governments. NNF actively participated in all sessions over the four-day event. The first day featured discussions on effective grievance mechanisms, the use of technology to enhance security, and regional progress of the Voluntary Principles in Latin America. The second day focused on strategy and governance, including NGO leadership transitions aimed at strengthening in-country networks and representation. On the third day, participants engaged in interactive sessions exploring security and human rights in conflict-affected areas and celebrated key governance milestones during the VPI Annual General Meeting.
